This workshop training not only protects the students in conference attendees’ care, but also protects the attendees. A mandated reporter commits a crime by failing to report child abuse that s/he should have reasonably suspected. Attendees of this workshop will learn why they need more thorough training on this topic; why most mandated reporters think they know more about child abuse and child abuse reporting than they actually know; how to report suspected child abuse; rights and obligations with respect to child abuse reporting; how to evaluate a situation to determine whether to report; and how to identify and report possible child abuse.
