This presentation will focus on the lessons learned from a special educator’s foray into the land of general education preschool. The objective of the presentation is to help special education preschool administrators break down barriers, make sense of general education silos and increase inclusive options for students with special needs. Practical information and tips on how California State Preschools, Head Start preschools and other general education programs operate and receive funds will be given. Participants will gain insight into pertinent general education preschool structures and demystify some of the systems that surround those programs (Local Planning Councils, Quality Rating and Improvement Systems, Community Care Licensing, etc.) providing them common language and understanding for potential preschool program partners in their Districts.
